let x=amount of money made before the sales tax was added to this amountx+0.06*x=$4459.421.06*x=$4459.42x=$4459.42/1.06x=$4207 before the tax is addedthe tax is 6% of $4207 which equals 0.06*$4207=$252.42, the sales taxcheck:$4207+$252.42=$4459.42
