Most land vertebrates can't drink seawater because

A. they don't have kidneys.
  B. their cells would eventually swell.
  C. their kidneys can't excrete concentrated salt.
  D. less water would need to be excreted by the kidneys.

They do not possess the mechanism to excrete high salt content, their kidney is not designed in such a way that allows the excretion of high salt concentration. So if they drink sea water then high salt concentration retain in their body, which will cause osmotic imbalance and eventually they will die.

Hence, the correct answer would be option C.
