The Republic is a major literature and philosophical work done by Plato, who lived almost 4 centuries before Christ. This work discusses the notion of justice, the way social order should be carried, and the characteristics of an ideal city-state, also dealing with the moral issues from that time. It is perhaps considered the greatest work done by the ancient Greek philosopher.

The Republic consists of dialogues between Plato and Socrates. The philosophical thought of the classics was greatly influenced by this major work, one of the most directly associated with him is Immanuel Kant.
