A special type of map designed to reveal the nature of local topography is called a contour map. The contour map is drawn in such a way with contour lines denoting points of equal elevation above a level, for example, sea level, it, therefore, shows valleys/hills and the steepness and gentleness of a given slope. It can be used for hiking, orientation, and traveling.
