A ploygon has a perimeter that measures 12 units.

When dilated, its perimeter becomes 8. The scale factor of dilation is k, therefore, we would have;

\begin{gathered} \text{Measure x scale factor=New measure} \\ 12* k=8 \\ \text{Divide both sides by 12, and you'll have} \\ (12* k)/(12)=(8)/(12) \\ k=(2)/(3) \end{gathered}

The scale factor is 2/3. The correct answer is option A
