To multiply by 6/7, we multiply by 6 and divide by 7. 1 +3/4= (1*4)/4+3/4
= 4/4+3/4=7/4. (7/4)*6=42/4. to divide by 7, we multiply 7 to the denominator to get 42/28, simplifying it to 3/2 or 1+1/2 tons
