alex is making a rectangular garden and wants a fence around it. he wants the length of the garden to be 3 feet longer than the width. he can afford only 150 feet of fence. what is the greatest possible width he can have for his garden?

If the greatest amount of fencing that Alex can buy is 150 feet, then the greatest amount that the lengths can be are 36 ft by 39 ft. 36+36+39+39 is equal to 150. 36+3 is 39.
