The two statements that most accurately describe a tragic drama are:

1. Based on the downfall of the main character.

4. Centered on a major flaw in the main character's personality.

In a tragedy or tragic drama, the main character has a flaw that leads him/her to his/her own downfall. Therefore, most stories involve a reversal of fortune, also called peripetia, because the protagonist's fortune changes from good to bad. Moreover, sometimes, this character dies at the end, while other times he/she ends up causing chaos or his/her own misery. According to Aristotle, a tragic hero is someone who evokes pity on the audience. Famous protagonists from tragic dramas are Oedipus and Creon.
