Precession occurs when the earth's axis changes direction over time caused by the gravitational pulls of the sun and the earth.
Obviously, there are gravitational pulls between the sun, the moon, and the earth. These gravitational pulls affect earth in such a way that it slightly changes its axis, which leads to precession. Precession is the term which refers to such a change in the orientation of a body, in this case, the earth.
