One of the most important tenets of Protestantism was the fact that it encouraged people to read and interpret the scripture for themselves, as opposed to blindly trusting what the Church leaders told them about their religion. This initiated a new practice of interpretation of scripture. However, with it, it also gave rise to different interpretations of the Bible. This led to new groups being created, with each group having a slightly different understanding of the teachings of the Bible.
