Describe how to find 5-(-8) on a number line. If you found the difference using counters, would you get the same result? Explain why

Go right 5, landing on positive 5, then left 8, leaving you on -3. You would the same with counters, one color being positive, the other being negative, then canceling out the positives and negatives and there would be 3 negatives left.
