so you have 5x-2=8
To get rid of the 2 you have to add 2 to both sides like this:
2+5x=8+2 then you add 8+2 that equals 10.
add 2 to 5x and you get 7x, your problem should look like this:
7x=10
then you divide 7 on both sides and you get x = 1.42
