The Neuse River is a river situated in the Piedmont of North Carolina. It is considered as the longest river entirely contained in North Carolina with a total length of approximately 275 miles. Neuse means peace in Indian name, is a vital part of the Albermarle-Pamlico Sounds, a large and important estuary. A tragedy happened in the river when runoff and waste got into the river and created a deadly toxin that killed the fish rapidly. This incident decreased fish sales and tourism and infected fisheries.
