How did immigration begin to change in the 1890s

Before the 1970s, immigration had not been as prevalent. It had crashed, of course, during World War II. Then it started to increase again. By the end of the 1980s, immigration rates were almost double of what they had been during the 1960s.

One major way in which immigration began to change in the 1890s is that there began to be a shift from mostly German immigrants to mostly Irish immigrants, although many immigrants continued to come from a variety of countries.
