length is 15 while width is 9

The perimeter formula is 2 times length plus 2 times width.
2(x+3)+2(x)=24
Distribute.
2x+6+2x=24
4x+6=24
Subtract 6 from both sides.
4x=18
x=2
So the length is 5 and the width is 2
