Her final number is 17,000

Rounding to the nearest hundred would be 4 turning into a 5 because the 7 is beside the 4. So the number was 16,500

Then rounding to the nearest thousand would be the 6 turning into a 7 because the 5 is beside the 6. So the number would turn into 17,000

Answer:

17,000

Explanation:

Given number,

16,473,

∵ When we round a number to the nearest hundred we check the tens place digit if the digit is less than 5 then the number is rounded to previous hundred while if it is 5 or more than 5 then the number is rounded to next hundred,

Here, the tens place digit = 7 ( > 5)

Thus, 16,473 ≈ 16, 500 ( nearest hundred )

Now, the above procedure is also follow when we round the number to nearest thousand ( But that time we check the hundred place digit ),

Here the hundred place digit = 5

Therefore, 16,500 ≈ 17,000 ( nearest thousand )
