4 x 3 = 12 ( so we shall choose 12 as our new denominator)

1/3 = 4/12 ( multiply 4 top and bottom to get the same denominator)
3/4 = 9/12 ( multiply 3 top and bottom to get the same denominator)

3/4 is greater than 1/3 by 5/12
