If something is growing at a rate of 7% a month, that means you take the original amount and multiply it by 0.07 and then add it to the original amount.

Luckily, there is a quick way of doing this. Just take the original amount and multiply it by 1.07. Since there are a total of 7 months, we must multiply the original amount by 1.07 seven times.

So our answer is:

524 * 1.07^7 =

841.429 bacteria

7% = 0.07

since it is growing add that to 1 = 1.07

now that is to the power of length of time 1.07^7

now multiply

524 x 1.07^7 = 841.429 ( round answer as needed)
