The commutative property states that when the other of operation of an operator is changed that the result of the operation remains the same.

For example, given that 9 + 8 = 17, the commutative property states that 8 + 9 = 17

Commutative property can be applied to addition and multiplication.

It states the following:

a + b = b + a = c

ab = ba = c

Now, for the given expression:

9 + 8 = 17

Applying the above mentioned property, we get the following expression:

9 + 8 = 8 + 9 = 17

Hope this helps :)
