The correct answer is C) the Olmec and the Zapotec.

The two civilizations that had such a great influence on later cultures that they were called the "mother cultures" were the Olmec and the Zapotec.

The Olmec civilization inhabited the territories of Mexico, what today is the southern part of the state of Veracruz and the state of Tabasco, in the Gulf of Mexico region. They were part of the period called Pres classical Mesoamerica and lived there from the 1200 BCE to 400 BCE.

The Zapotecs lived in central Mesoamerica, in the region of what today is the Mexican state of Oaxaca. Their main city was Monte Alban, and they lived there form 500 BCE to 900 CE. Both civilizations exerted great influence in other cultures years later such as the Aztecs.
