5 more than (5+) the product of 3 and b (3 times b or 3b) is (=) 7 (=)

5+3b=7
minus 5 both sides
3b=2
divide both sides by 3

b=(2)/(3)

Hi!

5+3b = 7
To solve, subtract 5 from both sides.
5-5+3b=7-5
3b=2
Divide by 3 on both sides
3b/3=2/3
b = 2/3

The answer is b = 2/3
