Let x = the width of the picture.

Because the length of the picture s 3 inches greater than the width, the length is
(x + 3) inches.

The perimeter is
p = 2x + 2(x + 3) = 4x + 6 inches.

The perimeter is less than 52 inches. Therefore
4x + 6 < 52
Divide through by 2.
2x + 3 < 26

Answer:
The inequality is 2x + 3 < 26
