The correct answer is D) The British forces attacked US troops by land and by water near Baltimore, at the Battles of North Point and Fort McHenry.

The British forces launched a two-pronged attack on US troops, by land and by water near Baltimore, at the Battles of North Point and Fort McHenry.

The Battle of North Point was fought on September 12, 1814. General John Stricker led the Third Brigade of Baltimore and confronted the Royal British Navy and its marines. The US army had to retreat, although caused many casualties to the British troops.

The Battle of Fort McHenry was fought on August 1814, when British troops marched on Washington, defeated the US resistance and when the British arrived at the Capitol, they set it on fire. Later, on September 13 and 14, the British attacked Fort McHenry and after two days of intense combat, the Americans were victorious.
