How are the values of adjacent places in the decimal representations of numbers related?

Each digit of a number has its own value which represents a value of its own. For adjacent digits, their values differ by 10 times. For example, if the number is 0.65, the 6 is in the tenths digit and the 5 is in the hundredths digit. Their individual values would be 6/10 and 5/100.
