Solution:

(L) Given the equations;

\begin{gathered} x+y=10\ldots\ldots\ldots\ldots\text{.equation}1 \\ x=2y+1\ldots\ldots\ldots\ldots equation2 \end{gathered}

We would substitute equation 2 in equation1, we have;

\begin{gathered} x+y=10 \\ 2y+1+y=10 \\ \text{Collect like terms;} \\ 3y=10-1 \\ 3y=9 \\ \text{Divide both sides by 3;} \\ (3y)/(3)=(9)/(3) \\ y=3 \end{gathered}

Then, substitute the value of y in equation 2, we have;

\begin{gathered} x=2y+1 \\ x=2(3)+1 \\ x=6+1 \\ x=7 \end{gathered}

Hence, the solution of the system of equations is;

x=7,y=3
