Hello there!

Our goal is to isolate the variable on one side of the inequality, and then solve for it.

1.) 5x + 3
\leq -17
Subtract 3 from both sides to isolate the variable.

5x
\leq -20
Divide 5 from both sides to solve for the variable.

x
\leq -4 is your first inequality solution for the first inequality.

2.) 14x + 20
\leq 13
Subtract 20 from both sides to isolate the variable.

14x
\leq -7
Divide both sides by 14 to solve for the variable.

x
\leq
(1)/(2) is your solution for the second inequality.

I hope this helps!
