x is the amount the wife received
The wife received twice as much as the daughter = x/2
the son received $1,000 more than the daughter = x/2 + 1000
x + x/2 + x/2 + 1000 = 9000
2x = 8000
x = 4000(wife)
x/ 2 = 2000 (daughter)
x/2 + 1000 = 2000+ 1000 = 3000 (son)

answer
expressions represents the amount received by the son = x/2 + 1000
amount the wife received = 4000
amount the son received = 3000
amount the daughter received = 2000
