distance:time
given that it takes 15 minutes for 3miles
3mi:15min is the ratio

should be the same as the other
3mi:15min=?mi:3min

convert to fraction
3mi/15min=?mi/3min
1mi/5min=?mi/3min
times both sides by 3min
3min mi/5min=?mi
3mi/5=?mi
3/5mi=?mi

she will travel 3/5mi in 3mins
