-6+14 =12-8x
-6+14 = 8
then
8 = 12 - 8x -12
8-12 = 12 - 12 -8x
8-12 = -4
and
12-12=0
then
-4 = -8x /-8
-4/-8 = -8x/-8
-4/-8 = 1/2
then
1/2 = x
so that: x = 1/2 = 0.5
hope that helps
