When humans burn fossil fuels, the stored carbon is released into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide. The carbon is then free to cycle through the Earth and can upset the natural balance of the carbon available, changing the way that processes occur on Earth.

Answer:

The global carbon cycle gets disturbed due to combustion of fossil fuels.

Step-by-step explanation:

The amount of carbon on the earth has to be maintained. This is maintained by the carbon cycle.

The carbon from the atmosphere is used by plants and then transferred to animals. Animals respire and release carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Also plants and animals die and become fossil fuel after being in soil for many years. Then they are burned to release carbon dioxide in atmosphere.

More than normal level of carbon dioxide is released due to combustion of huge amount of fossil fuels.

This is causing ocean acidification and many respiratory disorders.
