In plants, each cell consists of a box-like cell wall surrounding a mass of protoplasm. The protoplasm is a mixture that surrounds the cell and consist of ions, amino acids, monosaccharides and water, and macromolecules (nucleic acids, proteins, lipids and polysaccharides). It is also referred as cytoplasm.
