The place value pattern is a system of patterns of tens in which every place value is ten times the value on its right. The place value pattern system is used to write numbers that are 10 times as much as or 1/10 of any given number.
The place values in the pattern are: ones, tens (10*ones), hundreds (10*tens), thousands (10*hundreds),...
So, 50 = 5 tens
5000= 5 thousands, 0 hundreds, 0 tens, 0 ones

So, 5000 > 50
