Poverty refers to a state of not being able to provide for one's basic needs. Some factors that usually lead to poverty in some communities include unemployment, lack of education, teenage pregnancy, being unemployable. An individual who is unemployed cannot earn to provide basic needs. A lack of skill or education creates a situation where one does not possess the relevant competencies to be employed. Individuals can also end up in poverty if they are unemployable, example persons past the age of retirement and persons with debilitating disabilities.
