It's be because a coefficient is a numerical or constant quantity placed before and multiplying the variable in an algebraic expression

a is the correct answer. A coefficient is just a number that appears in front of a variable. Please note that a number that doesn't have a variable behind it is still a coefficient since there is technically a variable behind it with a power of 0.
