-2x - 2 = -6(1 + 4x) ...distribute thru the parenthesis
-2x - 2 = -6 - 24x ....add 24x to both sides
-2x + 24x - 2 = -6 - 24x + 24x...simplify
22x - 2 = -6 ...add 2 to both sides
22x - 2 + 2 = -6 + 2 ...simplify
22x = -4 ...divide both sides by 22
x = -4/22 which reduces to - 2/11 <==
