y = 7x

-5x + 2y = 9

-5x + 2*(7x) = 9

-5x + 14x = 9

9x = 9

--- x = 1

--- y = 7x = 7*1 = 7

Thus, x is 1 and y is 7.

-5x + 2(7x) = 9
-5x + 14x = 9
9x = 9
x = 9/9
x = 1

y = 7x
y = 7(1)
y = 7

solution is (1,7)...x = 1 and y = 7 <==
