50 + 5.5f < = 100
5.5f < = 100 - 50
5.5f < = 50
f < = 50/5.5
f < = 9.09....she can invite, at most, 9 friends

Answer:

Joann can afford maximum 9 friends in her party.

Explanation:

Let she can invite x friends in her party.

Skateland charges fixed charges = $50 and $5.50 for each person.

So the total charges she has to pay for x friends = $(5.5x + 50)

Since Joann can spend at most $100.

So the inequality which will represent the expenditure will be

(5.5x + 50) ≤ 100

5.5x ≤ 100 - 50

5.5x ≤ 50

x ≤
(50)/(5.5)

x ≤ 9.09

Therefore, Joann can afford maximum 9 friends in her party.
