36% are girls. this is because when you take 25 and multiply it by 4 (to get the number out of 100 so it is easier to make the percent), you 16 by 4 as well. the remainder is 36. (100-64 =36) so the percent is 36.

total of 25 students.....16 are boys....that means (25 - 16) = 9 are girls.
9 out of 25 are girls.....9/25 = 0.36 = 36% are girls <==
