If AB is the midsegment, find the value of x. Show your work.

I think the value of x is 17, but I'm not sure of the equation I'm supposed to use to get there.

In a triangle, the midline joining the midpoints of two sides is parallel to the third side and half as long, so AB = XZ/2

3x - 1 = 34/2
3x - 1 = 17
3x = 17 + 1
3x = 18
x = 18/3
x = 6 ← answer
