3x-1=173x=17+1

3x=18/3

x=18/3

In a triangle, the midline joining the midpoints of two sides is parallel to the third side and half as long, so AB = XZ/2

3x - 1 = 34/2
3x - 1 = 17
3x = 17 + 1
3x = 18
x = 18/3
x = 6 ← answer
