Given the toolkit function g(x) = x2, find the equation of the transformation g(x) after a vertical shrink by a factor of 1/2.f(x) = (1/2x)2f(x) = (1/2)x2f(x) = x2 + 2f(x) = 2x2

SOLUTION

From the give function

f(x)=x^2

A vertical shrink or compression by 1/2 means we multiply the given polynomial by 1/2, that is

g(x)=x^2\rightarrow(1)/(2)* x^2\rightarrow f(x)=(1)/(2)x^2

Hence the answer is

f(x)=((1)/(2))x^2

The 2nd option is the answer
