Can someone explain step two in the picture? Why is it that the square root of eight can be simplified to 2 square root of 2? Please and thank you

Can someone explain step two in the picture? Why is it that the square root of eight-example-1

√8 = √2^2 *2

√2^2 *2 = 2√2

Basically, because 8 equals (2 to the power of 2) times 2, when you find the square root, you can take the 2^2 out, since you're finding the square root of 2 squared.
