1 out of 6 tiles is yellow. That's 1/6 3 out of 6 tiles are purple. That's 3/6 3/6 reduces down, but when adding fractions the denominator should be the same. 1/6 +3/6 = 4/6 4/6 reduced down to 2/3. Therefore 2/3 of the tiles are yellow or purple.
