The distance around the tire of a motorized scooter is 21.98 inches. The tires make one revolution every 1/10 second. Find the speed of the scooter in miles per hour. Round to the nearest tenth.

for every 1/10 second it travels 21.98 inches

for a full second it travels 21.98 x 10 = 219.8 inches

for 1 minute it travels 219.8 x 60 = 13188 inches / 12 = 1099 feet per minute

1099*60 = 65940 feet per hour

5280 feet per mile

65940/5280 = 12.488= 12.5 miles per hour
