I think the correct answer is a)x in first equation

Look at the first equation:
3x + 6y = 9
You can divide both sides by 3 to get:
x + 2y = 3
And then solve it for x:
x = 3 - 2y
Now you can substitute x to 3-2y in the second equation
Next you will solve the second equation for y
