Select the equation of the line that passes through the point (3, −1) and is perpendicular to the line on the graph.

y = −1
y = 3
x = −1
x = 3

easy

the line we have is y=2.5
a perpendicular line to y=c where c is a constant is x=c where c is also a constant

just find what that constant is

point (3,-1)
x=3 and y=-1
so the equation is x=3 so that it will pass through that point

answer is x=3

we know that

The equation of the given line in the graph is

y=2.5

The given line is parallel to the x-axis

so

the perpendicular line to the given line will be parallel to the y-axis and the equation will be equal to the x-coordinate of the given point
(3,-1)

The x-coordinate of the point is

x=3

therefore

the answer is the option

x=3
