The nurse should advise TO INCREASE HIS FLUID INTAKE TO 2 TO 3 L PER DAY. She will also advise the patient that rest is required and that they should abstain from any alcohol for at least a day. The patient may be groggy and should therefore not drive or operate machinery. The patient should also avoid heavy lifting for at least a week. If prescribed antibiotics or pain killers the nurse should advise the patient to take as directed. If no pain killers were prescribed then the patient can take Tylenol as needed. Urine may be cloudy or bloody and aspirin should be avoided until urine has cleared.
