8|x+7|-3=5

Add 3 to both sides
8|x+7|=8

Divide both sides by 8
|x+7|=1

Rewrite absolute value equation as follows:
x+7=1
x+7=-1

Solve for both
x+7=1
x=-6

x+7=-1
x=-8

Final answer: x=-8, x=-6
