(3)/(4)+(2)/(3)

In order to add (or subtract) fractions they must have a common denominator. In this case 12 makes a good choice since 12=LCM(3,4).

First convert each fraction to an equal one with a denominator of 12:

(3)/(4)=(3*3)/(4*3)=(9)/(12)

(2)/(3)=(2*4)/(3*4)=(8)/(12)

No we can add:

(9)/(12)+(8)/(12)=(17)/(12)

We can simplify and write in other forms if required:

(17)/(12)=1(5)/(12)\approx1.41^{\frac{}{6}}
