first, you must combine all like terms.
'5y' and a '-y' account to a positive '4y'.

7=4y-13

add 13 to both sides to cancel out the -13 on the right side of the equation. we're left with:

20=4y

you must divide by 4 on both sides to get 1y by itself, to know its value. we do so and we get,

y= 5

hope that helped. (:

Answer: The value of y= 5

Explanation:

The given equation :
7=5y-13-y

To solve the above equation, we first combine the like terms :-

7=5y-y-13\\\\\Rightarrow\ 7=4y-13

Adding 13 on both the sides, we get

7+13=4y\\\\\Rightarrow20=4y\\\\\Rightarrow 4y=20\\\\\Rightarrow\ y=(20)/(4)\\\\\Rightarrow\ y=5

Hence, the value of y= 5
