Given:
f(x) = 4x² + 12
g(x) = x - 1

Therefore
(f . g)(x) = 4(x - 1)² + 12
= 4(x² - 2x + 1) + 12
= 4x² - 8x + 16

(f . g)(3) = 4*9 - 8*3 + 16 = 28

Answer: 28
